Want to shed your post-pregnancy weight but cannot find the time? Read this

Being a new mom can be quite an adventure! You’re responsible for another life that is now closely entwined with your own. The deal comes with giggles and smiles of happiness that can make your worst days feel like your best.

However, one of the issues that plague new mothers is their weight. It is a fact that women put on weight during pregnancy, which is perfectly normal, but it is often difficult to shed those kilos afterwards. This leaves a lot of young mothers feeling stressed or depressed.

Well, don’t worry, because losing those post-pregnancy kilos is just a matter of making time to follow these simple steps:

1. Regularize baby’s naps

This is a very important strategy for all new moms. Often, your baby’s nap schedule is rather loose, which means you’ll have to stay alert throughout the day and night. This adversely affects your metabolism and can make the process of weight loss harder, even if you are exercising during this time.

It is imperative that you get your baby’s naps regularized. This can help you organize your time better. If you’re finding it difficult to do this on your own, or finding it difficult to get it right, consult a sleep specialist.

2. Recruit family members

Having gone through it themselves, older women in your family will know how difficult it can be to look after a baby and remain healthy as well. They will understand and empathize. Seek their aid and they will cooperate if you ask them to, but keep your expectations realistic. After all, it’s probably their second or third or fourth time.

Try not to compromise on your exercise routine too much, as that will not help with weight loss. Your family and partner can always pitch in when it’s time for you to exercise and get some much-needed rest.

3. Exercise from home

No matter how much your family helps, you still need to be around your baby, just in case. This is especially true for the first few months after delivery. Use this time well and get started on a fitness regime at home. No need to hit the gym or participate in group exercises. Try and get a trainer to create a routine for you or download a good health app that will do the same – and start burning that fat!

4. Ensure baby gets adequate sleep

Your regime depends on that of your baby’s. Thus, it is very important for you to ensure that your baby has uninterrupted sleep. Before putting your little one to bed, make sure you change the diaper (if required), check that he/she has been fed properly, and set the AC to a comfortable temperature. Also extremely vital to the process of ensuring a peaceful night’s sleep is keeping pesky mosquitoes at bay.

These annoying insects can not only wake your child with their buzzing, but a bite could prove dangerous as well. The solution is simple: use Goodknight Patches near your baby (on the crib/cot etc.) to ensure a mosquito-free environment for up to eight hours. The patches are baby-friendly and quite safe for babies and young children.

Try to follow these tips and you’ll be on your way to losing those post-pregnancy kilos in no time. After all, it takes a healthy and happy mother to raise a healthy and happy child!
