Is your child suffering from a sleep disorder? Try these home remedies.

Sleep is essential for children. This is when their bodies do all its growing and re-energizes them for another full day of activity. It is thus, imperative to combat any sleeping disorders a child may have.

Though they are a bit rare, sleeping disorders, nonetheless, affect millions of children worldwide. There are, however, a few home remedies that a parent can try before taking the child to a professional.

Here are a few such home remedies:

Oil Massage: A soothing full-body oil massage can work wonders for children with sleeping problems. The massage ensures the relaxation of the entire body while the oil used bequeaths its own medicinal properties to the child. Don’t be too vigorous about it, as a child’s muscles are not yet strong enough to handle the pressure. Remember the point of the massage is to get all the built-up lactic acid of the muscles released. Massage your child for about half an hour and then let the oil sit for another fifteen minutes before giving them a warm bath. Afterwards, tuck them into bed and watch them drift off into a fabulous deep sleep.

Warm milk: A glass of warm milk has been used as a sleeping aid since forever. Warm milk soothes the acid in the stomach while promoting healthy digestion while telling the brain to release sleep-inducing chemicals. This is the best solution for most children with sleeping disorders. Take care to ensure your child has had a full day and if they do suffer from sleeping disorders, try to avoid them taking a nap in the afternoon. Thus, when it comes time to sleep at night, all they need to trigger their brain and body into sleep mode will be a good old glass of warm milk. If your child does not like the taste of milk, then try adding some chocolate powder or turmeric to make it more palatable for them.

Epsom salt bath: Epsom salts have been used for ages to relieve cramps, muscle aches and pulls. This is available in any medical shop and is relatively cheap. Epsom salts break down into magnesium and sulfates when in water. Run hot water (as hot as your child is comfortable in) and then add the bath salts in. If possible, let your child soak in the water for fifteen minutes to an hour or bathe with it. Soaking/bathing in hot water ensures your child’s muscles are totally relaxed while the warmth of the water starts lulling them to sleep.

For children with sleeping disorders, care should be taken to provide them with uninterrupted sleep. Mosquitoes are a big nuisance in this regard as they are responsible for disturbing light sleepers with incessant buzzing and biting which, being vectors for deadly diseases like malaria, dengue, and chikungunya, is something all parents should avoid for their kids. To ensure your child’s well-being and deep sleep, use the
Goodknight Neem Agarbatti in the room where your child sleeps. The vaporizer will ensure that even the hungriest mosquitoes stay away from your sleeping child.

These simple tips will help you, as parents, combat sleeping disorders your child may be suffering from. Follow them and you’ll ensure a good night’s sleep for your little one.
