I am a morning person; I prefer getting things done around the house in the first couple of hours after I wake up. However, thanks to my toddler and my part-time work commitments, my mornings have been pretty hectic. It didn’t take long for me to realize that I needed to create a routine that would maximize time for both me and my child, Ikxy.
Here’s a time-efficient routine that I worked out after some trial and error. I’m hoping this helps moms like me, who must be trying to get the most out of every minute. Come along with me for a tour through my day:
The madness begins around 5 am when Ikxy wakes up. As I am always in bed by 10.30 pm, I am well-rested when I wake up at this early hour – though my husband is still fast asleep! Once I’m done with the morning bathroom routine, with Ikxy in tow, I make myself a cup of cardamom tea. Sometimes, if my baby is hungry, I feed her or else just let her play with her toys. It is a good time to squeeze in a cuddle and admire my lush garden.
After drinking my tea, I quickly rustle up breakfast. Meanwhile, by 6:30 am, my husband is up and I make him his breakfast and start prepping for lunch while keeping an eye on Ikxy every now and then. Most days, the same dish works as breakfast and lunch in our household. It helps that my husband is a non-fussy eater and a supportive partner. He watches over the baby while I take a quick shower. When I’m done he goes in for his shower and I make Ikxy’s breakfast. Some days he would have already fixed Ikxy’s breakfast and fed her by the time I’m out of the shower! What can I say; my husband is my best buddy! By 9 am, he’s on his way to work.
I have two hours to finish chores before work consumes me from 11 am to 4 pm. Ikxy sits nearby in her portable playpen with her favorite toys. Although she howls at times, more often than not she’s happily preoccupied in her neatly designated play area. By the time my help (who also helps me with Ikxy) arrives at 9.45 am, it is time to get my little one prepped for preschool, which starts at 10:45 a.m. and ends at 1 pm.
Before she leaves, I make sure I apply Goodknight Fabric Roll-On directly on her clothes to keep her safe from mosquitoes. Just four dots do the job, and the effect lasts up to eight hours. Fret not, it’s certified by pediatricians as baby-safe thanks to its 100% natural active ingredients!
My help takes over my household chores until late evening while I work. I have my lunch after picking up Ikxy from school. After she’s fed, she gets busy with her toys. As I work from home, I’m always around when Ikxy or the help needs me for anything. By evening, when I am done with work and my husband is home, we look forward to spending time together.
There you have it! This is my typical day. While this routine works for me, it may or may not work for you. Chalk out a schedule according to your convenience, and watch how life gets easier around the house for you and your toddler.
