4 Things that every new mother needs

Being a mother is one of the most rewarding – and hectic – periods of a woman’s life. After all, you will need to adjust to some monumental changes. Then you will have to start carrying three times as much stuff everywhere as you used to, and even a walk in the park may require careful planning.

If you can shortlist what your child will need, and make sure you carry the essentials with you, it should make life a bit easier. So here’s a list of things to check off.

1. Feeding bottle: A baby feeding bottle will not be necessary for the first month or so, but after that, it will become necessary. Buying a baby bottle should be a decision that is as carefully thought out as buying a new car. There are thousands of them in the market; you must find one that is closest to being ideal for your child. Understand your child’s physiological profile. Some are allergic to plastic, some cannot abide latex. All of these factors should be considered before buying a feeding bottle.

2. Baby pillow: Babies often don’t have the strength to even support the weight of their own head. Things we take for granted — such as sitting up or supporting our head with our neck — are all but impossible for newborns. Baby pillows ensure that a baby’s head never strains their neck, and instead offers firm support while cushioning the body parts it’s in contact with. If traveling with a baby for a long distance (which could take as little as half an hour), a baby pillow is mandatory to ensure the baby’s comfort – and yours!

3. Diaper cream: Diapers are going to be a necessity for new mothers for at least two years. No matter what the quality of the diaper, your child will have to get used to them. Constantly wearing a diaper gives the baby rashes and this can cause discomfort, which affects the baby’s mood negatively. In this scenario, a diaper cream is a great option. Not only does it keep the baby’s sensitive areas moisturized; it also makes it easier for the baby to adjust to wearing diapers.

4. Mosquito and insect repellent: Babies make easy targets for mosquitoes, which can spread malaria, dengue, chikungunya, and other diseases. Couple that with a baby’s fragile immune system and you have a very strong reason to ensure that your baby is protected from mosquitoes at all times. Goodknight Patches are completely safe and child-friendly, and can be easily put on cribs, strollers, cots, or any other structure. They provide complete safety from mosquitoes (and other insects) for a full eight hours.

Taking care of a child can be a hectic job but that’s what all these products are here for – to make your journey easier. So, ensure you get these and take them with you everywhere. Happy parenting!
