How To Treat Dengue?

Dengue is a potentially fatal disease spread by the infected Aedes Aegypti mosquito. Although dengue cannot be spread by human contact, it is rapidly rising because of the increased breeding of the dengue mosquitoes.

There is no full-fledged vaccine for dengue. The most recent dengue vaccine, Dengvaxia has still not been introduced in India in its complete form as satisfying results were not found. Your health during dengue is completely in your hands – it all depends on what you eat and drink and how much rest you take. Here are some steps you can take to get rid of dengue faster.

Rebuild your immune system

Leaves and extracts of plants like Giloy, Fenugreek, Turmeric, Tulsi Leaves, Black Pepper are useful in strengthening metabolism, easing pain and they also act as sedatives. Extracts of Papaya leaves are known to boost the platelet count. Bringing the immunity system back is important in order to prevent the dengue fever from worsening into Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF) or Dengue Shock Syndrome (DHS).

Appropriate medication

Dengue fever causes a lot of physical pain in the body. The need for instant pain relief is inevitable. However, pain relievers can worsen internal bleeding in dengue, because of their ibuprofen/aspirin content. It is recommended to use pain killers that are suited to dengue symptoms. Your medical advisor will be able to help with this.

Medical help

In extreme cases, like that of Dengue Haemorrhagic Fever (DHF), the platelet count may drop to a critically low number. This may call for an immediate hospitalization or blood transfusion. Always be alert so that you can identify such alarming symptoms.

Up your platelet count

The most prominent effect of the dengue fever is the severe drop in the platelet count of the patient. Platelets, in their simplest sense, are the paramedics that protect us when we get injured. When their count drops, the body becomes weak and the power to rebuild itself decreases. The extract of papaya leaves is known to help regain the platelet count. Take complete rest

Dengue is characterized by extremely severe muscle and joint pain, accompanied by severe headaches and eye pain. It is advisable to not strain yourself during the fever and take appropriate rest, physically and mentally. Stress will worsen the fever unnecessarily.

Prevent dehydration

Always keep the patient hydrated. The oral fluid intake should be taken very seriously. Water, fruit juices and electrolytes are the perfect go-to drinks. There will be times when the patient may not be able to drink these liquids. At such times, IV (Intravenous Therapy) can be used, because compromising on hydration can be very risky.

Being infected by dengue does not guarantee immunity from dengue forever. Protect yourself by applying the 4 dots of Goodknight Fabric Roll-On on your clothes while going outdoors. Being made up of 100% natural ingredients such as citronella and eucalyptus oils, it ensures 8 hours of mosquito-protection.  To keep your house a mosquito-free zone, install the Goodknight Gold Flash System.
